Dota 2 Surebets: Why Kill Totals Last 8 Times Longer

Kill total surebets last 16 s by median vs 2 s on results and handicaps; one in five tops a minute. Which Dota 2 markets give surebets and what rules to check.

In Dota 2, the most arber-friendly market is total kills. According to Dozor data for the 24 hours of September 6, 2026, the median surebet lifetime on it is 16.3 seconds, while winner, handicap and map totals last about two seconds. One in five surebets on total kills holds for longer than a minute. Bookmakers price this market worse and update it less often than the map result.

The figures for winner, handicap and total cover all games combined: Dozor's current surebet history doesn't store the game, and a per-game breakdown will come with the archive. Total kills and kill handicap exist only in Dota 2 and League of Legends, so those rows apply to these two games.

Why kills are priced worse

A bookmaker models the map result from gold, experience and objectives: the live game feed delivers data every second, and the algorithm moves the line on its own. The number of kills depends on both teams' styles and the pace of the specific map. The model predicts it worse, and a trader updates the line by hand, and less often. Two books with different models diverge more, and for longer.

What to check in the rules

  • How kills are counted. Kills by neutral creeps, Roshan and towers count at some books and not at others. With a total of 48.5, two extra kills decide the bet.
  • Pauses and remakes. When a map is remade for technical reasons, some books refund kill bets and others settle them on the new map.
  • Score source. Books take kill counts from different sources: the game client, official tournament stats, their own tracker. A one-kill discrepancy between sources does happen.
  • Early surrender. A map ends with a GG in the 25th minute with 30 kills. “Under 48.5” won everywhere, but the kill handicap is settled differently on a surrender.

Before a kill surebet, open both books' rules for this specific market. A discrepancy that looks like a 5% surebet may reflect different rules rather than an error.

Other Dota 2 markets

Map winner in live moves after every team fight, and surebets there last the same two seconds as in CS2. Map handicaps in Bo3 and Bo5 and map totals in prematch produce surebets because books assess teams differently over a long series. Some books offer markets on first blood, first tower and Roshan, but the lines on them are sparse, and there are few surebets.

How it looks in Dozor

Total kills and kill handicap are normalized to one format across every book that offers them, taking the sign and the line into account. The card shows the map, the market, both books, the age of each price and the stake split. This is exactly the market where a Telegram alert is most useful: the surebet lasts long enough to check the rules and place the bets.

FAQ

Why does total kills last longer if it's live?

A trader updates the line less often than the algorithm moves the map result, and the books' models diverge more.

Are there kill surebets in LoL?

Yes, it's the same market, and the settlement rules are worth comparing there too. Games and markets are on the Esports surebet scanner page.

What ROI is typical on kills?

Lifetime and ROI are barely related: the median ROI across all surebets is 3%. A high ROI on kills more often means the two books have different settlement rules than that one of them made an error.
